Finance Intern


Location: New Credit 


Under the direction of the Finance Controller, we are seeking an enthusiastic and competent finance Intern to join our Finance Department. As a Finance Intern, you will provide assistance to our Finance Department in day-to-day operations. You will assist the Finance Department in various tasks including but not limited to, accounts payable, payroll, journal entries and general administrative activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in preparing, entering and reconciling weekly Accounts Payable batches
  • Assists the Finance Controller with month-end entries and procedures
  • Updates vendor information and accounts on an as-needed basis
  • Assists with bi-weekly payroll preparation
  • Prepares bank deposits on an as-needed basis
  • Ensures the secure handling and storage of confidential documents
  • Travel may be required;
  • Other duties as required


Education & Experience:

  • Completed the first year of a Bachelor's degree in Business or College Diploma in
  • Accounting or Business or similar field with plans to continue
  • Previous experience working in accounting or a similar role in the Finance
  • Department or administrative experience is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Google Suites, Excel and/or SAGE is an asset
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong work ethics
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with an Indigenous organization and culture is an asset
  • Proficiency with Internet, E-mail and other business-related computer software is required
  • An Indigenous candidate is preferred.


Language Skills:      

  • Understanding of working with the Indigenous community is preferred
  • Understanding of an Indigenous language is preferred
